BillBusted Terms of Service

Last updated: May 16, 2026. These terms apply when you use billbusted.com, the free Bill Scan, the Resolution Pack ($29), Full Audit ($49), Done-For-You ($149), or BillBusted for Business. Contact: hello@billbusted.com.

1. What BillBusted is

BillBusted is an AI-assisted medical bill review service. We help U.S. patients check confusing medical bills before paying by extracting line items from uploaded documents, flagging common billing error patterns, and producing dispute letters, phone scripts, and complaint-routing guidance.

BillBusted is informational support. We are not a law firm, insurer, medical provider, billing advocate, or financial advisor. Nothing we produce is legal advice, medical advice, insurance advice, financial advice, or tax advice. For those, consult a licensed professional in your state.

2. Who can use BillBusted

You must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. resident to use BillBusted. By using the service you confirm that any document you upload is your own bill (or you have authority to act on behalf of the patient — for example, a parent or court-appointed agent) and that you have the right to share it with us.

3. Your responsibilities

  • Only upload documents that belong to you or that you are authorized to act on.
  • Provide accurate information when prompted (e.g., insurance status, state).
  • Verify any rule, deadline, or amount we surface before acting on it. The right route depends on your specific plan type, state, and provider.
  • Don't use BillBusted to impersonate a clinician, attorney, or government agency.
  • Don't attempt to break, scrape, or reverse-engineer the service.

4. What you pay for

The free Bill Scan is free with no account required. Paid tiers are clearly priced on the pricing page and at checkout:

  • Resolution Pack ($29) — AI-generated case file with prioritized issues, phone scripts, formal dispute letter drafts, evidence checklist, and follow-up timeline.
  • Full Audit ($49) — Everything in the Resolution Pack plus a deterministic CPT and Medicare-reference benchmark check, a charity care eligibility screen, and a plan-type-specific 5-step action plan.
  • Done-For-You ($149) — Everything in the Full Audit plus automated dispute submission to the provider, 14/30/60/90-day follow-ups, and a final action summary.
  • BillBusted for Business ($1.99 per covered employee per month) — Per-employee bill auditing for employers, billed monthly via Stripe with quantity equal to your covered headcount.

Payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store full credit card numbers — Stripe holds payment data per their terms and PCI compliance.

5. Refunds

BillBusted reports are generated and delivered digitally, so all sales are final once an analysis report has been created. Refunds are available only in specific cases (duplicate charges, failed processing, the wrong document analyzed due to a BillBusted error, or technical issues that prevent delivery). If there is a problem with your report, contact hello@billbusted.com within 7 days of purchase. We will first attempt to reprocess or correct the report. See the full refund policy.

6. No guaranteed outcome

BillBusted does not guarantee a savings amount, a successful dispute, a credit-score improvement, or a specific legal or insurance outcome. About 73.7% of patients who actually dispute a medical bill receive a correction (JAMA Health Forum, 2024) — but each case depends on the documents, the plan type, the state, the provider, and the patient's follow-through. We can only help you organize and pursue the dispute.

7. Privacy & data handling

Our handling of your documents is governed by the Privacy Policy. In short: free-scan documents are processed in memory and not retained; paid-tier documents are encrypted at rest in Supabase and used only to generate your case file. We never sell or share your data with third parties for marketing.

8. HIPAA status

BillBusted is not a HIPAA-covered entity or business associate because we receive documents directly from patients, not from a healthcare provider or insurer. We treat the data with the same care a HIPAA-covered entity would — encryption at rest for paid orders, in-memory processing for free scans, no sale or sharing of PHI — but the HIPAA framework itself does not technically attach.

9. Intellectual property

The BillBusted name, logo, copy, design, and software are owned by BillBusted. The case files, letters, and scripts we generate for you are yours to use, share, and modify for your own dispute. You may not resell BillBusted output as a competing service or republish it in bulk without permission.

CPT® is a registered trademark of the American Medical Association. BillBusted is not affiliated with the AMA. HCPCS Level II codes and ICD-10 codes are public-domain CMS / CDC data.

10. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

BillBusted is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BillBusted's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50, whichever is greater. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost savings on a medical bill.

11. Termination

You may stop using BillBusted at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, attempt to impersonate someone else, or use the service to commit fraud. If we terminate your access for cause, paid-tier refunds may be denied at our reasonable discretion.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes will be announced on this page with a new “last updated” date. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law & disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and, where applicable, the state of registration of the BillBusted business entity. Disputes will be resolved in the appropriate state or federal courts in that state. Nothing in these terms prevents you from filing a complaint with a state or federal regulator.
